Mr. Amitava Majumdar (Raja), Managing Partner founded Bose & Mitra & Co, in the year 2004. Over the span of two decades, the firm has become one of the most recognized, accoladed, and preferred law firms dealing with matters in the field of Shipping and Admiralty law. His expertise encapsulates all facets of shipping and trade which include contentious, non-contentious, regulatory practice, and policy making. He regularly appears and argues before various High Courts, the Supreme Court, and arbitral tribunals across India in Commercial and Admiralty matters. He has also proffered expert evidence on Indian law and Indian civil procedure before the English High Court and in proceedings before the Singaporean Courts

He is one of the foremost Indian practitioners and is also the go-to choice for ship sale and purchase transactions. He regularly represents Indian ship-owners and associations in closing deals in Singapore, London, Hong Kong, Greece, Italy, the United States of America, Dubai, Hamburg, Bulgaria, and Japan for various types of vessels. Additionally, he has also extensively advised private institutions including but not limited to Shipowners, Charterers, P&I Clubs, etc., Government Departments in India related to Shipping, Admiralty, and Trade.

Mr. Majumdar has advised and has been a forerunner in drafting the Admiralty (Jurisdiction and Settlement of Maritime Claims) Act, 2017. He has also been part of the Indian Delegation for the Legal Committee Meetings at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), London. Through his knowledge, skills, and expertise Mr. Majumdar has garnered a lot of recognition and has been constantly rated as a Band 1 practitioner in the field of Shipping by both Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 in the past decade.

Mr. Aditya Krishnamurthy, Partner has been with the BMC for over 13 years is a commercial litigator who heads the firm’s fraud, asset-tracing and insurance departments. Over the past one decade he has been involved in most of the high value litigations of the firm which inter alia involve the enforcement and execution of foreign arbitral awards and foreign judgments in India. Mr. Krishnamurthy holds an LL.M in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton (UK) and has regularly been mentioned in Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. Prior to joining BMC, Mr. Karishnamurthy worked for two English law firms in Singapore. Mr. Krishnamurthy, has acted as an expert witness before the United States District Court Eastern District of Louisiana, the English High Court and before a London arbitral tribunal.

Mr. Ruchir Goenka, Partner has been with the firm for over 10 years and has been involved in a wide variety of contentious and non-contentious matters. He regularly deals with general commercial matters and shipping specific disputes such as cargo-claims, demurrage disputes, enforcement and execution of foreign awards & foreign judgments. He also addresses collisions and marine casualty investigations.
